Wrights of Lymm are proud to have recently been working with LBMA (London Bullion Market Association) in providing them with our expertise in Gold Beating since 1840 for their online exhibition – Wonders of Gold

 

LBMA intends the Wonders of Gold to be a permanent and growing part of its information offer.  So, what is now on show is a starting point.  The rather eclectic selection of items included so far does not provide a comprehensive coverage of the history of gold and the market which LBMA now serves.  Rather, they have been selected because they are interesting, significant and (in most cases) visually appealing.  In coming months and years, new items that meet these criteria will be added.

How wonderful is this wall painted in honour of the NHS and the people that have sadly lost their lives to Covid-19, by long standing customer of Wrights, George Hebborn. This piece of art made it on the BBC News earlier this month.

The bureau is painted in @dixiebellepaint Silk Paint in Deep Sea, the inside is gold leaf from @wrights_of_lymm & gold decor wax from @redesignwithprima & finished with a funky wallpaper sealed with Gator Hide. Well known in the Signwriting and Gilding Profession worldwide, Dave Kynaston whom already has developed his own amazing signwriting brushes has now developed a great tool for the gilders out there.

A set of velvet burnishing tools for enhancing the appearance of gold leaf. Hand made by Dave in Wales. This set if looked after should last a lifetime. Comes with instructions. A large turning pad, medium and small with the burnishing pencil for very fine work. Fill up the velvet drawstring bag with cotton wool and you have an XL burnisher. A 5″x 5″ spare sheet of velvet is supplied for intricate work.
