In the words of @madebymurphy1 her masterpiece —

“Libby”

Libby is here to make a statement. There’s absolutely no denying her bold colour and punchy geometric design.

She’s been transformed from an unwanted cabinet to desirable and funky cocktail bar.

The colour is Twilight Geranium by @fusionmineralpaint. The gold details on the front are by @wrights_of_lymm and the metallic purple “lounge” by @fleurpaintuk sets it all off magnificently.

She has new handles which perfectly compliment the “geo lattice” stencil by @madebymurphy1 and @stencil_up

The metal gold leaf back is lit up by 2 remote controlled lights in each glass cabinet.

Inside there are mirrors on the back, bottom and pull down section are lit up upon opening to really emphasise that she is no longer for displaying items, she’s ready to party.

She wears a metal gold leaf crown and shoes- as who wouldn’t given half the chance.

Libby is excited about her new life and I’m excited for her.

Amazing ‘Auri’ Pieces by Anthony Scala

These amazing pieces are called ‘Auri’ (pronounced or-eye) were finished with precious metal leaf by the talented Anthony Scala. Each sphere contains a different precious metal leaf and they range in size from smaller than a ping pong ball, to large than a bowling ball! The overall effect is a gentle gradation of colour through the lighter lemon golds, through the richer red golds, on to the copper shades and finally the silver and gun metal tones of silver, palladium and platinum. The piece is designed to be modular and will work with as many, or a few components as a person wishes. It can always be added to at a later date and much like a stamp collection, it is only limited by your passion for it!

Anthony initially trained as an architectural model maker and in 1999, Anthony became a competent glass blower in his own right after the guidance of Peter Layton. In 2005 Anthony won the prestigious “Glass Sellers Award” making him the youngest ever recipient of the Glass Sellers main prize. Over the years his portfolio of projects have consistently demonstrated meticulous attention to detail, as well as a unique lateral approach, and I think you will agree this project looks amazing.

Loyal Customers of Wrights of Lymm

Wrights of Lymm has been a household name amongst the signwriting trade for many years, and we’ve seen customers coming to us as young apprentices and returning year after year as they become such talented traditional signwriters for all their gold leaf, paints, brushes etc. This photo shows the loyalty we are so proud of with our customers with his collection of our brush tins from years gone by . Thanks Andrew of Manning Signs for your continued support !!

The Charterhouse, London

This room known as the Chamber Room was created in the 1540s as part of a palatial mansion built from the ruins of a Carthusian monastery. It was embellished around 1570 by the Duke of Norfolk, who inserted a grand fireplace and a lavishly decorated ceiling. The Great Chamber was intended as a room of splendour and prestige. Elizabeth I met her Privy Council here in 1558 before her coronation and both she, and James I were hosted here on many occasions after that. After 1611, when the site became a school and almshouse, the governors held their meetings here. The room you see today has been altered over the centuries, including remodelling after fire damage during the second world war. This has recently been restored by Hesp & Jones, outstanding gilders whom are a pleasure to work with in supplying them with Gold Leaf for spectacular jobs such as these.

We have been supplying Sarah with Gold Leaf and gilding products for some time now and seen many beautiful pieces of work that she has created. We wanted to share this with you. Formally designed by Christopher Borch (1817-1896) for the Parliament House in Oslo, Norway, this coat of arms has been recreated and beautifully gilded by Sarah using Wrights Gold Leaf and hangs back on the wall in the Parliament House.

BLAST FROM THE PAST !!

Wrights have been going since 1840 and it was a delight to see one of our good friend Scott Telfer posting this photo and video of some of Wrights memorabilia that he had come across from a lady whose Grandfather had been a keen painter and signwriter.  The brush and Gold leaf booklet is way before our time but so interesting to see !!
